Roberto and Sandra, the owners of old EuroCheapo favorite Pensione Ferretti, are doing wonders with the place. The Ferretti is located on a quiet corner near Santa Maria Novella, not far from the Arno River. The duo assured us that despite all the renovation hubbub, the wood-paneled bar and lounge upstairs—which looks like something out of a mountain lodge—is going nowhere!
The third and fourth floor rooms are a riot of animal print. By way of contrast, the mid-size rooms on the second floor have seen a mighty makeover, and are now decorated in fresh sea-foam green with bright white bedspreads and large, all-new bathrooms.
The real love is upstairs, where large rooms feature original, colorful tiled floors. Black wrought-iron bed frames are topped in simply fabulous leopard- and tiger-striped covers. We chuckled a bit when we found out that the building was once a 16th century convent. The sisters would be beside themselves.
With something for all tastes, from the cool to the classic to the beastly, the Ferretti is a truly welcoming pension. |
