This cozy 20-room hotel, perched above a busy strip of Via Faenza, is not for anyone afraid of color.
Artwork runs the gamut of classic to contemporary, with no evident theme aside from Nuova Italia's evident penchant for the bold and the bright. Rooms, too, follow a haphazard furnishing scheme, with incandescent gold-threaded bedspreads, red carpeting, art prints, and posters of all sizes and genres. Lightwood furniture is functional and basic, and there's plenty of space.
The real charm lies in the bathrooms, which are done up in retro charm with rainbow-striped tiles and funky shaped mirrors. What rooms lack in space they make up for in pizzazz. We especially loved the almost romantic red shower curtains.
All in all, Nuova Italia is a funky little gem with very good rates. And its location is grand as well, with happening San Lorenzo market just around the corner. |
