The Tourist House B&B is a quiet guesthouse situated literally around the corner from the Santa Maria Novella church. The front entrance is decorated with miniature Venus and David statues, and they are a sure sign of the arty touches inside this charmer.
The Tourist House's 11 rooms are lovely and relatively large, with warm yellow and clay-orange walls. Furnishings are done up in classic Florentine style, with sophisticated fabrics and gilded mirrors. The wood-beamed ceilings, canopy beds, and even a reproduction of the Mona Lisa lend some extra decorative flourish. All of the Tourist House's rooms offer AC, TV, and free Wi-Fi, and some come with balconies. The bathrooms are a bit outdated and on the small side, though they are equipped with toiletries and a hair dryer.
The B&B's building is turn-of-the-century, but the owners have pumped it full of unique, classic character. With a prime location and reasonable rates, the Tourist House is a solid bet.

About the Tourist House B&B neighborhood
Across the street from the train station, the area around Piazza Santa Maria Novella is perhaps the most varied neighborhood in the city. The, dingier, urban streets leading to the station get a lot of traffic (both automobile and human) while the other side of the grassy Piazza is formed by narrow, serpentine little streets, characterful buildings, and top-notch shopping. The piazza itself is crowded with picnicking tourists and pick pockets preying on them. The 'hood is bordered by the river, the train station, shopping street Via Tornabuoni, this area suffers a bit of an identity crisis. One thing is for sure: once you're here, you're no more than ten minutes away from anything else.
