With room upon room of breathtaking masterpieces by Michelangelo, Botticelli, da Vinci and Giotto, the Uffizi Gallery is Florence’s most visited and recognized art museum.

Highlights of the museum include the main hall's ceiling frescoes and Botticelli’s masterpiece “The Birth of Venus,” as well as Leonardo da Vinci’s famous painting, “The Annunciation.”

Lines get long here—fast!—so book ahead. Visit the Uffizi’s Web site for information about hours and tickets, including group access. Often, tickets can be combined for the Uffizi and the Accademia Galleria (where David holds center stage).

The Uffizi is located on the Piazzale degli Uffizi in the heart of central Florence. The square outside the museum is a very popular meeting spot for tourists, and it’s often lined with artists selling their wares. The museum is located along the Arno river, a very short walk to the Ponte Vechio.
