In every city we visit, there is always that one affordable gem that makes us wish we could just move in. In Frankfurt, that hotel was the four-star 25 Hours Goldman, a casual, eccentric design hotel that still hangs out in cheapo territory. With 49 individually decorated rooms, a genuinely friendly staff and a load of free amenities, the 25h Goldman is the place to be (and be seen).
Each of the 25h Goldman’s colorful rooms was designed by a different Frankfurt artist, and not one is for the faint-hearted. Proof positive: The receptionist will inquire which color you like before suggesting a room. Whether you go with red or yellow or gray, you’ll find funky collages, bold patterns and retro furniture fitted into your (somewhat tight) quarters.
Adherents of the “less is more” school may say the rooms are overly decorated, but at this cool hotel we declare, “more is more.” You may see swirly wallpaper against tacky gold lamps, but so what? The beds are incredibly plush, the flat-screen TVs are flashy and the tiled (and stylish) showers are strong. All rooms are also equipped with a telephone, fan and free Wi-Fi.
But it’s not only the eccentric décor that made us swoon for the 25 Hours Goldman. The hotel distinguishes itself with little touches, from the complimentary iced tea and bottled water in the lobby to the cozy-chic “living room” and airy terrace. Even better: Bikes are available for free rental, as is—believe it or not—a Mini Coupe (refundable deposits required for both). And the staff members we encountered were all young, hip and very friendly.
Location-wise, the Ostend may be a little removed from the main part of Frankfurt, but it is an exciting, up-and-coming neighborhood populated with edgy bars and eateries. It’s also just a 20-minute tram ride to the city center.
Breakfast is available for an additional charge.

About the Goldman 25hours neighborhood
The main attraction in this neighborhood to the east of the city center is the Frankfurt zoo. The area is also home to many of the city’s theaters and music venues, as well as Ostbahnhof (east train station). From here, it’s not far to walk to the city center.
