The City Hotel Frankfurt is remarkably quiet given its proximity to major streets and sights. The three-star property may be simple, but what you save on your bed can easily be spent at the nearby Zeil, Frankfurt’s famed shopping thoroughfare.
Inside the City Hotel Frankfurt, charmless hallways lead to 53 spacious rooms, where art replicas haphazardly adorn cream-colored walls. The rooms are overall well appointed, with dark wooden furniture and new parquet flooring. (The leftover 1980s dressers undermined the mood a bit, though.)
Every room is equipped with a television, fan and mini-fridge. We found the rather uninspiring views to be a happy alternative to facing the table dance club across the street.
The small private bathrooms are clean and painted a pleasant shade of lavender.
The City Hotel Frankfurt’s reception area is casual and friendly, which about sums up the service here. And the hotel’s convenient location, near major sights and transit arteries, makes up for its dearth of charm.
Some perks, like building-wide Wi-Fi, are free, but you’ll have to pay €8 for breakfast, which is served in a rather stylish ground-floor dining room.
