Lloyed

The 53-room Hotel Lloyed is one of three Frankfurt properties owned by a Brazilian-German hotelier couple. It benefits from a laid-back, multilingual staff and an excellent location in a residential area within a 10-minute walk of the train station.

The Hotel Lloyed is actually two establishments that share the same entrance, courtyard and breakfast room. The three-star back building contains cramped rooms with private showers (toilets are shared). The four-star rooms in the front building are slightly larger (and run about €10 more), with small, deep bathtubs. All rooms are equipped with coffee and tea facilities, a minibar, telephone and TV.

Rooms in both wings feature soft blue carpet and narrow beds, some of which are pushed together to form doubles. All the rooms (even the slightly larger four-stars) are on the cramped side, some with funky U-shaped configurations. The furniture, while appealing, is a tad scuffed.

The dark bathrooms in the back three-star building are overdue for a renovation, but their built-in vintage plastic hair dryers are retro-cool.

The Hotel Lloyed’s friendly staff helps make up for its boring environs, small room sizes and less-than-new furnishings, and overall the hotel is a good pick for the unfussy traveler.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and Wi-Fi is free throughout.
