The 27-room Hotelli Finn is a no-nonsense, Cheapo-friendly pick with a convenient location near all that the city center has to offer.

Situated on the sixth floor of a building opposite Helsinki's famous Stockmann department store, the guestrooms have a strangely appealing retro feel to them. One twin room offers striped blankets, pink floral curtains, and Oriental prints on the walls. Another room has quilted bedding sprinkled with Chinese characters and a worn Persian rug. These details aren't meant to dazzle, but we found them charming all the same.

Bathrooms sport blue and white tiling and clean fixtures. The Hotelli Finn offers nine rooms that share a shower in the hall, though all rooms have toilets. A few of the en-suite rooms have bathtubs (ask ahead).

Aside from the small reception and sitting area that sits midway along the long hall of guestrooms, the hotel has nothing in the way of common areas. Breakfast—for €7—is delivered to the room.
