One of four RT hotels in Krakow (three of which we review on EuroCheapo), RT Monopol is our favorite of the bunch. Located on busy ul. Św. Gertrudy, the RT Monopol has 75 plain but comfortable rooms.
Bedspreads are the color of milky coffee with cinnamon; wall-to-wall carpets are a bit creamier in hue. Furniture approaches cherry-brown. Rooms tend to the capacious side. The effect is faux-antique à la Ethan Allen, disturbed only by plastic bedside lamps. Bathrooms sport neutral tiles.
Overall, if you need aesthetic excitement or adhere to a tight budget, the RT Monopol is not for you. But if a certain assurance of a midrange hotel standard amenities, service, and comfort is important to you, the RT Monopol will fit the bill.
And who can resist the stairs leading out of the lobby area in their pure late 1980s elegance? We found the chrome banisters and reproduction oriental carpets especially fetching.
