Hotel Classic is a self-consciously midrange hotel with some lovely amenities and a pleasant location just inside the Stare Miasto greenbelt, but it isn't a bargain by Krakow standards.

Sitting on the edge of splurge-worthy EuroCheapo territory, Hotel Wawel is a cut above most Krakow accommodations: Amenities, location, and ambiance all put it ahead of the pack.

Though Hotel Amber is not a steal, it's a good value among Krakow's small crop of stylish boutique hotels. Frankly, we're hard pressed to think of another hotel this finely designed anywhere at this reasonable a nightly rate.

From the splashed-out, swanky lobby to the finest private hotel bathrooms that we saw in Krakow, Ester is an ideal spot for those seeking some style on their weekend break.

The friendly La Fontaine Bed and Breakfast is one of the few Krakow hotels actually on Rynek Główny (the Main Market Square).

The 38 rooms of Bed & Breakfast feel as much like a hostel as the do a B & B.

Barebones, baby. That's the Trzy Kafki Plus ticket. Encompassing 24 rooms on an anonymous street west of Stare Miasto, Trzy Kafki Plus is an ideal nesting place for backpackers and other budget-minded tourists.

Janexim is a funky guesthouse located just west of Stare Miasto. Encompassing 20 rooms (and an additional 10 apartments) Janexim feels more like a pension than a hostel.

The eight-room Pensjonat Trecius is one of our favorite pensions in all of Krakow. Hidden away in a gorgeous building on Św. Tomasza near the Old Town's Rynek Główny, it's a quiet and special little place.

The eight-room Sky Hostel is located through a massive courtyard on ul. Dunajewskiego, just northeast of Stare Miasto. Though not one of Krakow's best hostels, Sky benefits from its location and attractive architecture.

City Hostel is that unusual beast, a hostel put together at an aesthetic level that few hotels manage. The entire hostel is beautiful if austere, like a super glamorous monastery.

One of Krakow's best theme-driven hostels, Goodbye Lenin Hostel takes the aesthetics of pre-1989 Poland as its focus.

Orange Hostel matches promotional materials with the hostel's namesake. The hostel offers extremely simple private rooms, with matching duvet covers and pillowcases.

Rooms are dorm-like, with light wood bunkbeds, naked walls, and utilitarian duvets. That said, while there's no question that these rooms are barebones, they're also quite new and clean.

Hostel Atlantis, one of Krakow's many hostel-hotel hybrids, is an unassuming, basic place with 19 rooms on offer.

Kadetus Hotel is yet another of Krakow's many friendly, slightly down-at-heel hostels. The nine-room Kadetus is located close to the action in a modern, bustling area of Krakow, west of Stare Miasto.
