OK. There are no thrills to be had at the Best Western Premier Hotel Eduardo VII, except for maybe trying to say the name five times fast. Truth be told, it's a little sleepy. However, rooms at this three-star hotel are in decent shape, the amenities are reliable, and service is steady.
Decorated with a formal, classic look, the Eduardo has moderately sized rooms with wood or carpet flooring. Furniture is reproduction antique and includes a writing desk and chair. Pretty Portuguese tiles in the bathrooms liven things up a little. Triple rooms can be had with three twin beds or a double and single—the latter ideal for families. And the hotel has one non-smoking floor, a rarity in the older Lisbon neighborhoods and definite "new city" perk. Request ahead.
The on-site restaurant offers rooms service, and Wi-Fi access is avalable throughout but for a charge. The TV lounge, with its black leather couch and billards table, reminiscent of an old boy's club, is a nice place to sip a stiff port.
Though not directly on the Parque Eduardo VII, the Best Western is a block away. It's also just down the street from Praça Marquês de Pombal and the metro stop.
