The two-star Ibis Lisboa Liberdade offers 70 surprise-free rooms at generally low rates, located minutes from the Maquis da Pombal metro station and Avenida da Liberdade.
Rooms are attractively outfitted and completely standardized, with cream walls, wood-laminate floors, handy desk and luggage racks and plenty of closet space. All are equipped with air conditioning, flat-screen satellite TV, telephone and radio.
Private bathrooms, in all rooms, have large shower/tub combos, hairdryers and quite a bit of space.
At €69 for a double, the Ibis presents a solid value for Lisbon. There are a couple of extra charges to consider, however. Wi-Fi is offered for free downstairs in the efficient lobby, but you'll pay €3 an hour to go online from your room. Breakfast is also not included in the nightly rate—a buffet is available for €6.
Still, while we try to focus on smaller, independently-owned hotels and pensions on EuroCheapo, we can't ignore the value that the Ibis chain offers. With clean, fully-loaded rooms that remain firmly in Cheapo territory, the hotel is a budget traveler's friend.
Note: This hotel was visited by a EuroCheapo editor and is recommended based on cleanliness, location, price and overall quality. EuroCheapo did not charge this hotel to be listed.

About the Hotel Ibis Lisboa Liberdade neighborhood
The Avenida da Liberdade runs between two metro stations and is Lisbon's "Grand Boulevard." Lined with pricey shops, office buildings and restaurants, it's a broad, impressive street, and the major artery of Lisbon. As a general rule, the farther you walk from the river, the more modern it becomes. The Botanical Gardens are nearby.
