Nestled in on Rua do Salitre just off the western side of Liberdade, the cute Sorte provides 21 rooms that combine quality and friendly service. For about €50 you'll get nice two-star, air-conditioned rooms, with cable TV and breakfast. Not bad!
Rooms are homey affairs, all dolled up in yellow and blue florals with a healthy dose of country charm. Furniture is in good condition, including some cool blue leather easy chairs. Some bedrooms are a bit tight, while rooms to the quiet back are flooded with light and views to the rear gardens. (We heard birds.) All rooms sport mini-fridges. Baths are functional and clean, if vintage '70s.
