The Sana Lisboa Hotel is a four-star splurge, offering premium rooms in mint condition that overlook the Parque Eduardo and the old city. We're listing it on EuroCheapo, because rates drop from time to time into our price range. And let's face it, sometimes we Cheapos feel like really pampering ourselves.
Opened in 2004, the Sana Lisboa provides 287 rooms that sparkle, and service that's flawless. Rooms sport the cool, contemporary look of a chic hotel: dark, expansive wood headboards, muted, earthy color schemes, and elegantly framed art. Oak desk, chairs, table, and cabinets furnish each room. Beds are generously sized and the soundproofing keeps things very quiet. Room safes are big enough to store your laptop, should you need to lock it up. They think of everything.
Deluxe marble baths are equipped with all the amenities you'd expect, and all come with bathtubs. Moreover, they include things we don't normally check for, like a bathroom phone, cosmetic mirror, and a scale (we weighed in, just for fun).
The Sana's grand lobby is an open, airy, modern place. It's full of sunlight, marble, and glass. It bustles with an army of efficient employees, guests checking in, and diners in its trendy café and restaurant. We weren't sure if we should be impressed or slightly intimidated.
The hotel is located at the base of the Parque Eduardo, right on the Marquês de Pombal. In all, 164 rooms face the park, while 117 face the old city. The Sana chain runs eight other hotels in Portugal, among them the lower-priced, three-star Sana Rex.
