The five-room Sé Guesthouse is a charming and affordable Alfama option, with a picturesque location, fantastic river views, and eclectic décor.
Directly across the street from the Sé Cathedral, the guesthouse looks like the well-decorated flat of an avid world traveler. African carvings and Asian artifacts line the halls, while rooms are individually decorated with beautiful carved beds, old-fashioned bedspreads, and antique furniture. Rooms look onto the quiet street or out to the River Tejo. Some rooms are en suite, while others share the two, clean hall bathrooms.
The Sé occupies the first floor of a 19th-century building. The cheerful Pensão S. João da Praça is upstairs. Make sure to grab a coffee or sit down for a delicious salad at Pois, the stylish café next door.
