Cherry Court Hotel

The 12-room Cherry Court Hotel is a cheapo gem. Located just around the corner from the Victoria Station hubbub, it offers low rates and a friendly vibe. The proprietors, the Patels, have run the B&B for decades. They’re so genuinely outgoing you’ll be forgiven for wanting to give them a hug as you take leave.

Rooms

Rooms at the Cherry Court are very simple décor-wise. We spied a small ground-floor single with a peach-hued duvet and burgundy carpet—a color combination that speaks to utility above all else.

Other rooms sport red, lavender or blue plaid comforters, and some have pink walls punctuated by white molding. In any case, the feel is simple and functional, and beds and small night tables are the extent of each room’s furnishings.

All rooms have a TV, safe, air conditioning, coffee maker and phone.

Bathrooms

The private bathrooms are small but clean, with a stall shower. A hair dryer is available at reception.

Hotel

A fruit basket breakfast (fresh fruit, biscuits, cereal bar and orange juice) is included—perhaps a relief to light morning eaters tired of heavy English breakfasts. Other plusses at the Cherry Court Hotel include free Wi-Fi and a lovely back patio kitchenette, where guests can chill out and prepare meals during the warmer months.

That the Cherry Court Hotel boasts tons of repeat guests comes as no surprise. It’s perfect for Cheapos who love saving money but also enjoy a smile and a backyard respite with their low rates.

Note that Cherry Court does not have an elevator and applies a five percent surcharge to all credit card transactions. Reception is open from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m. (guests are given keys to come and go as they please).
