The Ibis London Euston is located just behind the station for which it’s named, and a short walk from the shops of Tottenham Court Road. As a branch of the reliable European budget hotel chain, this two-star property has a bit of a corporate feel. However, what it lacks in charm it makes up for in comfort, convenience and excellent facilities—all at reasonable rates.
Quick read
Pros: Convenient location. Solid value. Clean and efficient.
Cons: Feels a bit stale and corporate. Charges for Internet, breakfast and other “extras.”
Rooms
The Ibis London Euston’s 380 guest rooms are immaculate and completely standardized. Walls are cream, and bedding is white. They’re spare and minimal with utilitarian furnishings in the way of a blonde headboards, shelving and built-in desk units.
Each room is equipped with air conditioning, a coffee/tea maker, fan, flat-screen TV, safe and soundproof windows. Rooms look out onto the street or onto a sunny, gravel courtyard.
Bathrooms
All bathrooms are private and exceptionally clean. Some facilities have bathtubs (ask ahead).
Hotel
Downstairs, the hotel’s modern canteen is stylishly decorated in cream and deep burgundy and serves food throughout the day. The reception area is attractive in a late-’90s “casual corporate” kind of way, with pleasing carpets and walls, plants and comfy seating areas. The friendly receptionists smile, speak many languages, and are impressively efficient.
The Ibis London Euston offers almost every amenity on the list, from elevators to parking. Most of these, including parking, breakfast and Internet access (both hotel-wide Wi-Fi and the lobby computer station) cost extra, often exorbitant, fees.
Location
The hotel is located across the street from Euston station—that’s the good news and the bad news. Its close proximity to transportation means you’re set for getting out and exploring London. It also means you’re sleeping across the street from a major transportation hub, which is neither the quietest nor the most charming of locales.
Still, it’s less than a 15-minute walk from the Ibis London Euston to lush Regents Park, and about a 20-minute walk to the British Museum.
