There's nothing unique about this hotel: it's safe, clean, and professional. But the budget-savvy Kensington Gardens Hotel has very reasonable prices for the location. The hotel itself is small with a cozy reception, and the staff, though sometimes lacking command of the English language, is friendly.
Rooms, although generally small, are very clean with attractive furnishings, though the modern decor does little to reflect its Victorian surroundings. All rooms have private bathrooms, though a few singles do not have toilets en suite. Some doubles have period fireplaces.
Hyde Park, Kensington Palace and its gardens, and the famed shopping havens of Portobello Market and Oxford Street are all nearby. Meals are served at the Phoenix Hotel, to which the Kensington Gardens is annexed. And since reception closes at 8.p.m., guests will have to pick up keys or direct any inquiries next door as well.
