A fair distance from the Paddington Station hotel cluster, Oxford London Hotel sits on the very attractive Craven Terrace, a cozy commercial street that feels gently upscale.
Oxford London’s 21 en-suite rooms are playful. Miniature Tiffany-inspired bedside lamps and framed prints of a gentleman in a top hat keep things fun. Yellow walls maintain brightness. Duvets and pillows match, in a dainty blue-and-white pattern. The impression struck us, frankly, a bit odd at first, but it’s nonetheless pleasing and welcoming, and even cheeky.
Of great use to independent travelers are the mini-fridges and microwaves hiding in the extensive closet and cupboard space. These, combined with the very attractive rates—a good £15 cheaper than those in spitting distance of Paddington Station, and vastly cheaper than most midrange hotels in more central districts—make Oxford London a very good budget choice.
