The Queen's Park Hotel occupies a large Victorian era building on Queensborough Terrace, a hotel-packed strip running south into Kensington Gardens. It's nothing fancy -- a bit of standard chain hotel fare. But the price for double rooms can sometimes dip down to very sensible prices, which compensates for any lack of creativity.
The Queen's Park's rooms are on the smaller side and decorated with basic wood furnishings and framed printed artwork. The drapes and bedspreads are very early '90s; but the funky wallpaper does offer rooms some life (we're tired of barebones white walls, darn it). And rooms are very clean. Bathrooms, also a little dated, are en suite. Rooms have flat screen LCD televisions.
The lobby has recently been remodeled. Hardwood floors and modern furniture with blue upholstery have a freshening effect. We hope the same will happen to the rooms. First floor rooms can seem a little dark. We recommend going up a floor or two.
