The Princess Hotel is spotless without being sterile, and charming without being too frilly. Considering the name, it's odd that this homey hotel should choose to radiate a masculine touch: it's not just for the princess, but the prince as well.
The front lobby is warm and cozy with red carpet and a vinyl couch. The look here is old-school with dark wood furniture polished to a shine. If the Felix Ungar had his own pad in London, it might look like the Princess. Halls and stairways are tight, but this is to be expected in London. Besides, it just adds to the snug-as-a-bug feel.
Being a historic building means there's no elevator. However, the 22 rooms are worth the climb. Brighter than other parts, they have yellow and peach walls, decorative borders, and floral bedspreads and drapes.
However, it's in the adorable breakfast room that the princess in the Princess shines through: lace dresses the windows and table tops, and hutch shows off various kitchen curios, from engraved plates to curvy candle sticks.
