Can you say "accesso del Internet"? José at the Hostal Benamar, located in Chueca across from the Museo Romantico, is in the process of renovating his 30 rooms, taking them online as he goes. Renovated rooms have their own personal computer with Internet access. Plus, they are f-r-e-s-h, with new doors, new beds, big TVs, AC, double-paned windows, and full, en suite bathrooms.
In the meantime, older rooms are all over the place. Some have a private bath and/or a television; some don't. Air-conditioning is not offered in all the rooms, which look out either onto the street or a courtyard. When reserving, be specific about what you want.
Note: The Benamar is located on the second floor of a building with no elevator. Stair-averse individuals should take heed.
