For longer stays in Madrid, this hostal between Plaza Mayor and Sol is a premium choice—but not for standard hostal rooms. It's Hostal Madrid's new recently-added apartments that take the cake.
We know we're not the only ones who have come to this conclusion. Many playwrights, artists, and actors often rent apartments while they're in Madrid. Certain writers like the Madrid's quiet ambiance and urban rustic décor so much that they've booked stays here during novel completion sprints. According to a little bird, that is.
Apartments are over-sized. Their palette is country white with natural wood floors and (gasp) fireplaces! Apartments feature open common rooms leading to a sparklingly-clean full kitchens. A digital stove, granite counters, microwave, and washing machine are all built-in. And behind door No. 51 is a large terraza that overlooks the Sol district.
Madrid's young Madrileño owner decorates each room himself, collecting odds and ends (like colorful placemats, cottage-like furniture, and wrought-iron beds) picked up at the El Rastro market. Service is personable and attentive, even for apartment guests.
