Picture the friendly family that runs the two-star Hostal Santillan. Now picture them again. And again and again ... There are dozens of family photos from across the decades lining the lobby's halls and walls. It will certainly make you feel right at home!
The Santillan is housed in a beautiful 1920s apartment building, boasting an impressive marble, mosaic and stained-glass entrance hall. (We couldn't help snapping a few photos of entrance for our own scrapbook.) Rooms are nestled eight floors above, and are perfectly acceptable and simply decorated.
Though most rooms have complete facilities (only two singles share hall toilets), they are sparing in the amenities department. No air-conditioning or telephones here. Fans are available in double rooms.
