The mammoth Hotel Asturias, located one block east of Puerta del Sol, offers a whopping 200 rooms, almost all with private balconies overlooking the street. (This is made possible by the hotel's atypical triangular shape.)
The Asturias gives you basic two-star rooms with a view. The decor is pleasant, though not posh, and many of the rooms are quite spacious. Like other area two-star hotels, the Asturias doesn't have air-conditioning. Windows are single-paned and, when left open in the warmer months, could cause for a loud night's (lack of) rest.
