The warm and sunny Hotel XXII Marzo (Hotel 22 Marzo) provides a great escape from gray, foggy Milan days. With its location right on the piazza and a tram stop just minutes away, this two-star hotel struck gold for comfort, convenience and cuteness.
The family who runs XXII Marzo does its best to make you feel comfortable, starting with its use of color everywhere. New blue carpeting and peach-colored walls lead to the hotel’s 15 rooms, which are done up in shades of yellow and green. Each room is outfitted with air conditioning, soundproof windows, a telephone and TV.
The private bathrooms are pretty small, but they have good-sized showers, creamy cloud blue tiles and the occasional marble accent.
The Hotel XXII Marzo’s bright color scheme appears on everything from the walls to barstools, and its staff members always seem to have smiles at the ready. (During our visit the 20-something at reception was agreeing to take a guest’s two teenage sons with him to a disco. Now that’s service!)
The hotel offers free Wi-Fi and a free Internet station. Breakfast is included in the room rate.
