We happened upon the Hotel Ideale on a busy, tree-lined boulevard in the Citta’ Studi area and we think the three-star hotel is aptly named. When it comes to location, price and all-out charm, this “ideal hotel” is the real deal.

The 22 rooms at the Hotel Ideale are compact, but bright brocades, polished floors and ruffled curtains turn the ordinary into the adorable. The walls are regally painted maroon, beige and charcoal, and every room comes with air conditioning, a minibar, television, safe and phone. Rooms with balconies are also available (ask ahead).

The private bathrooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with gray and green tiles.

The same family has run the Hotel Ideale for 10 years, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. The hotel was recently renovated, and the proud gent who gave us the tour showed us every last corner. We spotted red leather couches, marble floors, a semi-covered patio and a blooming back garden.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and the hotel offers both a free Internet station and free Wi-Fi throughout.
