The four-star Hotel Concorde, part of the Tulip Inn hotel chain, is a Cheapo honorable mention for its surprisingly reasonable rates and its prime Old Town location.
The 71 rooms are quirky but comfortable. The rough carpet choice is as baffling as the framed sketches of teddy bears lining the hallway. Yet glossy dark wood furnishings and delicate wall trim lend some style to the rooms. Bathrooms are in tip-top shape, and most are white and roomy.
The breakfast room and lobby are a bit on the old-fashioned side, but who cares when there's a generous buffet on offer? In short: what the Concorde lacks in chic, it makes up for in comfort.

About the Concorde neighborhood
"Stadtmitte" means City Center. A striking number of Munich's attractions are situated in Stadtmitte. To name a few: Marienplatz, Altes Rathaus and the Munich City Museum. The Frauenkirche, or Dom, is also here. Stadtmitte is Munich at its most distinctive, Bavarian, and downright charming.
