And now for something truly enchanted… Located inside the English Gardens (Munich's largest park), where birds sing and water streams, the Hotel Gästehaus Englischer Garten seems plucked from a German fairytale. The adorable, ivy-covered cottage offers 12 guestrooms far removed from the city's bustling tourist action.
Rooms in this 17th-century guesthouse vary from small to shockingly spacious, although all have a rustic feel. Décor is a grab-bag, ranging from country-style rugs to Louis XVI-inspired furniture. Bathrooms are private or shared, and all are clean and functional.
Breakfast is served either in the small and homey kitchen or, in warmer months, on the picturesque backyard terrace. A nearby Bavarian restaurant is a great place to mingle in the evening and enjoy traditional cuisine.

About the Gästehaus Englischer Garten neighborhood
"Stadtmitte" means City Center. A striking number of Munich's attractions are situated in Stadtmitte. To name a few: Marienplatz, Altes Rathaus and the Munich City Museum. The Frauenkirche, or Dom, is also here. Stadtmitte is Munich at its most distinctive, Bavarian, and downright charming.
