Hotel Antares, located just north of the city center, offers 50 rooms on a charming, quiet side street. It's removed from the noise of trains and tourist traps, but conveniently situated near the U-Bahn, cute cafés, and bars.
Rooms are unembellished but perfectly comfortable, with dark wooden bed frames and sailor-blue carpeting. All rooms are equipped with mini-bar and TV. Bathrooms sport attractive lighting and seafoam green tiles, and all are private and have sparkling white bathubs.
Antare's breakfast room boasts a mini-pub and has large windows which overlook the lovely street. A recently-added courtyard garden adds to the hotel's peaceful atmosphere.
Note: Internet access is expensive at the Antares, so opt for an Internet café to check your mail instead.

About the Antares neighborhood
"Stadtmitte" means City Center. We designate "Stadtmitte" as the area east of Sonnenstrasse and west of the Thomas-Wimmmer-Ring/Karl-Scharnagel-Ring. A striking number of Munich's attractions are situated in Stadtmitte. The gorgeous Marienplatz, Altes Rathaus, and the Munich City Museum are all located in Stadtmitte, as are a range of stunning churches. Of these, the Frauenkirche, or Dom, is arguably the most remarkable. On the west side of Stadtmitte is Sendlinger Tor, a charming if modern little quarter full of delightful cafes and restaurants. Stadtmitte is Munich at its most distinctive, Bavarian, and downright charming.
