Since 1975, Hotel Wallis's 54 rooms have been enticing a varied crowd, including plenty of Americans, to its central, Bahnhof Sud location. What attracts value-hungry Yanks to Hotel Wallis? Why the "Bavarian" rooms of course. In this case, "Bavarian" simply means a few pseudo-rococo flourishes here and there, brought to aesthetic life in the form of antique reproductions.
The Wallis's kitsch is high-quality, not trashy. Plus, rooms at the Wallis are clean and its staff is super friendly and accommodating. The "Bavarian" rooms are a little overwrought for our personal taste, but when low rates and a great location converge like they do at Hotel Wallis, we won't whine.

About the Wallis neighborhood
The blocks south of the Hauptbahnhof, or main train station, feature a staggering number of hotels. Many of Munich's sex shops can also be found here, as well as shopping, restaurants, bars and cafés. Stadtmitte is also nearby and very well served by public transportation.
