It's all about location at the simple and friendly 20-room Pension Locarno. The pension is located on the third floor of a building smack dab between Central Station and some of Munich's best shopping streets.
Rooms won't win any awards for trendy décor, but they are spacious and have high ceilings and attractive furnishings. The windows let in plenty of sunlight, but also annoying traffic noise from the street below. Showers and toilet facilities are shared in the corridor, though all rooms are equipped with sinks.
The Locarno is a simple, sweet place with friendly owners to boot, an Iranian couple who has run the hotel for 20 years. The wife explained to us, “Our ratings come from the stars in the heavens.” How nice is that?

About the Pension Locarno neighborhood
A mostly nondescript, modern neighborhood running several blocks north of the Hauptbahnhof (Munich's main train station), this area features a number of hotels. Interesting shops and a handful of bars and cafés as well as the odd building of architectural interest punctuate the 'hood.
