Hotel Uhland is a four-star, family-run hotel housed in a fabulously grand mansion. The side street on which this enchanting place is located boasts some of Munich's most historic buildings and most striking foliage. It makes for a very pleasant 15-minute walk from Central Station.
Bright hallways and wide stairs lead visitors to the 28 spacious guestrooms, all with high ceilings and homey décor. The hotel's proprietress gave the rooms a classic country-home style, while the proprietor added some cute extras such as TV speakers in the bathrooms. Speaking of the bathrooms, they are super clean, and the water pressure has kick (you would never guess the building dates back to 1889).
The whole family, including two "hotel watch dogs," is absolutely charming. The Uhland's lobby, breakfast room, and lounge are contemporary yet comfortable. Another perk: The Uhland provides free parking in the back.

About the Uhland neighborhood
The blocks south of the Hauptbahnhof, or main train station, feature a staggering number of hotels. Many of Munich's sex shops can also be found here, as well as shopping, restaurants, bars and cafés. Stadtmitte is also nearby and very well served by public transportation.
