Have a hankering to be a hop, skip, and bow away from Broadway? Dorm rooms and simple private doubles at the Big Apple Hostel are your discount ticket to the Great White Way.
Both the TV lounge and guest kitchen are well-worn, but the friendly young crowd doesn't seem to mind a few nicks and scratches. In fact, they seem at home watching morning talk shows, playing chess, and making cross-Atlantic calls on the hostel's pay phones. An occasional backyard barbecue brings the hostel together, and while its not great pre-theater dining, it sure seems like fun.
Although the halls are dark and cramped (this is an old building, after all), rooms are bright and clean. Walls are bright white, and the only furnishings are blue bunks. Private rooms are better furnished but similarly simple. In both, large windows provide plenty of light.
