The Herald Square Hotel is simple and practical, a fact that has kept rates low and us happy. At first, we were a bit sketched out by the reception desk, which is enclosed in glass. However, by the end of our visit, our concerns had been calmed.
This place has a great location—between Broadway and Fifth Avenue—and impressive amenities for a budget hotel. We'd send our mother to stay here.
The lobby is rather unremarkable, though the adjacent coffee room is more inviting. With the exception of the self-service coffee machine, the space might as well be a café.
Bedrooms are spacious if not lavishly furnished. Amenities are more impressive, such as free Wi-Fi Internet access and satellite TV. Rooms are being renovated with more eye-catching accoutrements. Singles can be had with shared facilities or en suite with shower stalls. Otherwise, bathrooms are tiled in lime green and fitted with bathtubs. |
