It's hard to believe the Hotel Newton, with its old-style New York feel, has only been around for 14 years. Previously an apartment building, the premises have been refitted with satin wallpaper, ritzy furnishings, and even a show-tunes soundtrack.
Walls are freshly papered in cream, and the hotel is in the process of outfitting all rooms with flat-panel TVs. New tiling and new fixtures in the clean bathrooms give them a more modern feel.
Hotel Newton is family friendly: children age 17 and under stay for free. And for more stringent Cheapos, rooms with shared bathrooms remain available at a reduced rate.
The neighborhood is quieter than Midtown and considerably more personable. Its proximity to the 1 train makes it an ideal base for traveling to the sights.
