This Beaux Arts building certainly stands out amongst the bustle of Koreatown. Whereas most of the buildings on the block are identified by Korean script, its ornate threshold buttressed by Corinthian columns stands in sharp contrast. However, it would be unfair to call La Quinta a sore thumb.
Inside the lobby, the Italianate atmosphere persists—the pillars and barrel ceiling above the reception area lend a cathedral feel that is tempered by the more modern black and white tile floor. But Cheapos do not despair—all that is opulent is not expensive.
The rooms are pleasant for a hotel of this scale, decked in earth tones and fitted with crisp, comfy linens. They've also given consideration to rooms that don't receive ample sunlight, illuming them with soft ceiling lights and bedside lamps. Bathroom sizes are variable, some available with bathtubs rather than standing showers.
With amenities like free Wi-Fi, cable television, and an attractive rooftop bar, it's hard to believe La Quinta remains affordable. However, rates remain subject to availability and can increase considerably. Book ahead to beat the hike. |
