When we first walked into the lobby of the Larchmont, we thought it was out of our league. The leather chairs jammed our Cheapo meters, as did the light stained-glass ceiling lamps. But we were in for a surprise. Rates are well within our range.
So how does a fancy hotel located in historic Greenwich Village keep its prices so low? Two words, Cheapos: shared bathrooms.
The rooms are tastefully furnished with wicker and faux-bamboo furniture. Framed photos of animals and flowers complete the country décor and accent walls painted in warm hues. Though bathrooms are shared, all rooms have sinks so guests can groom in private. Considering the fantastic location and affordable rates, sacrificing a private shower seems insignificant. |
