Cheap hotels near Gramercy Park in New York, United States
Gramercy Park is one of just two private, fenced-in squares in New York City, taking up two acres between East 20th and East 21st Street in Manhattan’s East Side.
The park was once a swamp, but is today filled with well pruned flowers and bordered by gorgeous 19th-century townhouses. At the center of the park stands a statue of Edwin Booth (dressed as Hamlet), a renowned Shakespearean actor and one of the neighborhood’s most famous former residents. (And yes, he was also the brother of John Wilkes Booth, President Abraham Lincoln’s assassin.)
Unless you’re a resident, there’s only one way to get into the park these days. Stay at the swanky Gramercy Park Hotel and ask for one of the staff to let you into the park. If this is not possible, you could also simply peer through the gate as you jog past or walk around the perimeter.
