The two-star Hotel St. Georges offers Cheapos an ideal location only a block away from the shopping delights of Avenue Jean Medicin and less than five minutes from the train station.
The St. Georges will make American travelers feel at home too, as its 30 rooms sport a roadside motel look. They’re simple, bright, comfortable and air-conditioned. Each room features a flat screen TV and free WiFi. The bathrooms (some quite tiny) are outfitted with white tiles and large showerheads.
A few rooms open up to a common patio garden. If this appeals to you, make sure to ask for a room in the back. And if you’re planning to stay more than a week, ask about long-term discounts.

About the Saint Georges neighborhood
The area to the south of the train station and in Nice's center city is full of budget hotels. These vary greatly in terms of character and amenities but generally provide basic rooms at very reasonable prices. Keep in mind that the area immediately surrounding the train station, like in many other cities, has a sleazy edge. The beach is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
