With doubles starting at €50 and stylish details befitting a more expensive hotel, the Little Palace is a great two-star Cheapo pick located on a quiet street in central Nice.
The Palace’s ornate façle;ade leads to a marble-floored reception area topped with a fancy chandelier. Its 32 rooms are (thankfully!) simpler than its elaborate reception, but still pretty, with white walls, red-and-gold linens and wooden furniture. All rooms are equipped with air conditioning, satellite television and Wi-Fi. The bathrooms are outfitted with modern tiles and hairdryers. Some rooms even have balconies with views of central Nice and the sea (request ahead).
Although the Little Palace benefits from its quiet location, the beach, shops and casinos are all within walking distance.

About the Little Palace neighborhood
The area to the south of the train station and in Nice's center city is full of budget hotels. These vary greatly in terms of character and amenities but generally provide basic rooms at very reasonable prices. Keep in mind that the area immediately surrounding the train station, like in many other cities, has a sleazy edge. The beach is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
