The Star Hôtel is a two-star property located only a block and a half from avenue Jean Medecin and within easy walking distance of Old Nice.
The hotel’s 24 bright rooms are decorated in warm colors and get lots of light from large windows. Each air-conditioned room comes equipped with satellite television (with DVD player) and free Wi-Fi. Some also have balconies (ask ahead). Bathrooms, stocked with toiletries and a hairdryer, come with either a shower or a bath (again, ask ahead).
The Star Hôtel boasts a pleasant dining area sectioned off from the reception desk. The area grooves to a 70s beat, with glass beads hanging from the windows and flowers adding a "hippie" feel.
Overall, the Star Hotel is a comfortable, moderately-priced option in central Nice.

About the Star Hôtel neighborhood
The area to the south of the train station and in Nice's center city is full of budget hotels. These vary greatly in terms of character and amenities but generally provide basic rooms at very reasonable prices. Keep in mind that the area immediately surrounding the train station, like in many other cities, has a sleazy edge. The beach is about a 20-minute walk from the train station.
