We couldn't stop taking photos of the Ermitage Sacre Coeur, an elegant hilltop mansion-turned-guesthouse situated in the shadow of the famous basilica in Montmartre.

Rooms

The classy B&B is family-owned and provides 12 artistically-minded guest rooms. Rooms are papered with English flower-print fabrics and furnished with handcrafted beds, armoires and tables dating from the early 1900s. Each room has a slightly different décor, but all are sure to charm.

Otherwise, it's simple: No TV, no elevator, and no smoking. All rooms are equipped with standard tiled bathrooms (some with bathtubs).

The Ermitage's rooms either face the rather quiet rue Lamarck (which winds around in front of the steps of Sacre Coeur) or face Paris. By "face Paris," we mean that, as the B&B is situated atop a hill, several rooms offer jaw-dropping and unobstructed views of the city (see photo—and ask ahead). Two ground-floor rooms open to the guesthouse's flower-filled garden.

Location

The Ermitage Sacre Coeur’s location, just minutes down the street from the Sacre Coeur itself, is a show-stopper. This places you minutes from not just the basilica, but also the neighborhood’s countless restaurants, cafes and bars.

As picturesque as this location may be, the hike won't be for everyone, and the sights of central Paris can feel quite a distance away. But that view...

Metro: The guesthouse is located about five minutes from the “Lamarck Caulaincourt” Metro station (line 12). When leaving the station, take the elevator to the rue Lamarck, and walk to the hotel (at 24, rue Lamarck) along the road toward Sacre Coeur.
