When you walk into the two-star Grand Hôtel Lévêque, located on the market-lined rue Cler, you'll see a corridor lined with framed hotel reviews. These represent the entire gamut of hotel guidebooks. Yep, this place is no secret.
Although aesthetically underwhelming, the combination of good prices, easy location and plentiful amenities keep them oft recommended.
Rooms have the normal slew of amenities, plus air-conditioning (rare in Paris for a two-star hotel). However, rooms can be a bit drab. Walls could use a fresh paint-job, the artwork could be improved, and the bed sheets and curtains are worn and uninteresting. Bathrooms are medium-sized and clean. Single rooms come only with shared facilities.
The 25 rooms on the street are worth inquiring about&mdash:their flower boxes spill forth with geraniums and provide nice views of the bustling mini-markets of the rue Cler. The reasonably priced triple rooms are a good option for families.
