The friendly Hotel Audran is a solid deal, offering newly renovated two-star rooms along the café-lined rue Abbesses, one of Montmartre's most charming stretches.
Pros: Low rates. Nicely renovated rooms with private bath. Free Wi-Fi.
Cons: Charming neighborhood could feel far-flung.
The Hotel Audran was completely renovated in 2011, giving rooms and public spaces some well-deserved attention. The hotel’s 40 rooms (7 singles, 9 twins and 24 doubles) were made over with pretty blue walls, restored crown moldings and attractive (if imitation) laminate floors. Furniture is pretty basic (simple bed, desk and wicker chair), and all rooms are equipped with a flat-screen TV, telephone and safe.
The 28 rooms facing the street (on either the rue Abbesses or rue Audran sides) will get some traffic noise, although the hotel did install double-paned windows. Still, light sleepers should request a room on a higher floor (there’s an elevator, and views from the top are gorgeous—check out our photos!) or ask for one of the 12 rooms on the courtyard.
All rooms have a nicely tiled private bath, each of which has a shower (no bathtubs) and a hair dryer.
Aside from the renovated, functional rooms, the Audran boasts few extras in terms of common spaces or services. The hotel serves breakfast for a Cheapo-friendly €6, although there are countless bakeries and cafés offering better deals nearby.
Wi-Fi is available for free throughout the property. The entire hotel, including all rooms, are non-smoking.
The Hotel Audran’s location, just two blocks from the picturesque Place des Abbesses (complete with carousel and Metro), puts guests near innumerable restaurants, cafés and small shops, and a short stroll up to Sacré Coeur.
This location makes sense for romantic types, although guests simply searching for a convenient spot (where they can quickly come back to your hotel throughout the day), should consider picking something closer to the center of town.
Metro: The hotel is located two blocks from the Abbesses Metro station (line 12).

7 Rue Audran
Montmartre, Paris, France
About the Hotel Audran neighborhood
Overlooking Paris to the north, Montmartre's winding streets have inspired starving artists and bohemians for generations. That charm still exists, but today co-exists with a theme park of the original village, complete with postcard touts, tourist-ready restaurants, and portrait painters. Hotels around Montmartre can be quite affordable--just be prepared to do a lot of walking.
