The entrance to the 15-room Hôtel Le Petit Châtelet is not easy to reach, as guests must navigate their way through the crowded outdoor tables of the hotel's popular bar. But then you have the perfect people-watching spot just outside your door.
Located on a tree-lined block, the Châtelet is steps from the sights of Ile de la Cite and the Centre Pompidou, as well as some happening restaurants, jazz clubs, and bars. That said, those who need their beauty rest, should beware: despite the double-paned windows, the rue St. Denis can be quite noisy, especially during the summer when windows are left open.
Rooms are on the small side but interesting artwork and a warm décor scheme compensate. One room, for example, has a tasteful beach theme with postcards tacked on the walls. Bathrooms—all en suite—are what you would expect from a hotel with these rates: small yet functional.
Overall, the Châtelet offers good prices at a great location. Note that the stairs are steep and winding and there's no elevator. This could be downright treacherous after a night at the popular, Australian bar across the street
