Here's the Hotel de la Bretonnerie in four words: elegance, location, space and higher-than-average prices.
OK, so that was more than four words. Even so, that's the Breton' in a proverbial nutshell. And as for those rates, we found the hotel to be worthy
of a splurge. It has that particular brand of elegance that the French can do so well.
The Bretonnerie is located in the heart of the Marais, away from the quarter's grittier streets and a couple blocks from the Hôtel de Ville and the Seine. The aforementioned elegance comprises more than just pricey decor—this hotel really has a refined ambiance.
Each of the Bretonnerie's 29 spacious rooms is individually decorated, though they seamlessly share in the same aesthetic philosophy. Painted in simple, bold colors, some rooms have jacquard bedding or headboards, while others offer fresco-style wallpaper and simple bedding. The elegant décor continues in the coordinated bathrooms, which are quite big and absolutely spotless.
If you're looking for a hip, less tourist-packed spot in the neighborhood, then the Bretonnerie is a good pick. Junior suites are attractive for families but also good for folks just looking for some extra space.
Again, the prices are a bit higher than most EuroCheapo selections, but for the amount of three-star amenities and style, many will find the hotel desirable for their stay in "Le Marais."
