This budget hotel has a suspiciously dated '70s façade, and the halls looked like they could use some serious repainting on our visit in November 2006. But once inside the Hôotel de Turenne's rooms, you'll find new carpeting, simple modern furnishings, and satiny bedspreads with matching curtains.
The bathrooms are clean but unremarkable, and the air-conditioning is adequate rather than iceberg strength, but there's an elevator and the metro station Ecole Militaire is two minutes from the front door.
Even without these amenities, this hotel is a great deal considering it's less than five minutes' walk to the Eiffel Tower, the Rue Cler market, and the Invalides airport shuttle. Well-behaved pets are welcome.
