Embracing the Latin Quarter’s Medieval collegiate history, the Hôtel des 3 Collèges provides comfortable three-star accommodations for visiting professors (and those who want to sleep near them).
Pros: Great location near the Sorbonne. Comfortable and quiet inside.
Cons: Some bathrooms remain unrenovated.
Rooms are pretty, if not exciting, and outfitted with cream walls, framed prints and dark orange throw pillows. Standard modular beds and desks are functional. All room are equipped with a flat-screen TV, telephone and air conditioning.
Many of the private bathrooms have been renovated (like the one shown in our photo), with nice new tiling, showers, fixtures and a hair dryer. Other rooms are equipped with older (although still fine) bathrooms, but we’d recommend requesting a renovated bath when reserving. (The hotel plans to finish updating their baths in 2013.) Bathrooms with tubs are available for an additional €3.
The Hôtel des 3 Collèges provides a few rooms way up on the sixth floor that sleep three guests or function as more spacious (and expensive) doubles.
Downstairs, the hotel is professional, quiet and studious, with a large reception area and reading lounge that looks out to the street.
All rooms are non-smoking and the hotel does have an elevator. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel. Breakfast is available for €5 (small) or €9 (large).
Location is a key draw here: The hotel is located just one block south of the Place de la Sorbonne on the tiny rue Cujas. Rooms look out across the street to the Sorbonne buildings, and bookstores, cafés and assorted thinkers are all around.
The hotel name "Hôtel des 3 Collèges" refers to the three 13th-century colleges that were once situated on the rue Cujas: the Sorbonne (founded in 1254), the Collège de Cluny (1261) and the Collège des Chôlets (1292).

About the Hôtel des 3 Collèges neighborhood
The student district of Paris since the 13th century, the Latin Quarter is located in the Left Bank's 5th arrondissement. It's home to the Sorbonne University, the vast Jardin des Plantes, the Place St-Michel, the Panthéon, and Notre Dame Cathedral on the Ile de la Cité. It's a lively area of Paris completely overrun with students and tourists and the cheap shops and eateries that cater to both constituencies.
