The Hôtel des 3 Collèges stands out on a street full of hotels for its bright and cheery breakfast room, which overlooks a corner of the bustling student district. And there are several other lounge areas for reading and checking e-mail, that offer views of the medieval Cluny well nestled in the inner courtyard.
The 44 rooms are generally compact, decorated with simple wooden furnishings and fabrics in beige, brick, or slate blue. Bathrooms are modern and tidy, with hair dryers, a clothes line, and either combo bathtub/shower or just a shower. The three largest (and priciest) rooms are on the sixth floor, with exposed wooden beams, slanted ceilings, and excellent views. However, without air-conditioning these will get quite toasty, especially if there's another heat-wave!
The breakfast room is open to the public in the morning, which gives it more of a café atmosphere. Guests have a choice of a full breakfast including fresh fruit, yogurt and cereals or a cheaper "express breakfast of just coffee and a croissant".
The 3 Collèges is within easy walking distance to Notre-Dame, St-Germain-des-Prés and Luxembourg Gardens, and just two blocks from the RER B train station for both Paris airports.
