Looking for an Eiffel Tower view on a budget? This convent-turned-hotel might just do the trick.
Pros: Great location. Four rooms with Eiffel Tower views. Warmly decorated. Reasonable rates.
Cons: Small, basic rooms.
Situated on the tranquil rue du Gros Caillou, the two-star Hotel Eiffel Rive Gauche offers simple and standard rooms at quite reasonable rates for the neighborhood. Indeed, the big draw here is location. And, true to its name, the hotel has four (highly coveted!) rooms with views of the Eiffel Tower (request these well in advance).
As for the actual rooms, well… did we mention the hotel used to be a convent? (We’re serious.) Rooms are small, but they’re clean and will do the trick for unfussy travelers. Dressed in burgundy and golden hues, they’re outfitted with wooden headboards, desks and perky reading lights, along with a fan, flat-screen television and telephone. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
The renovated bathrooms are decked out with marble sinks and new hairdryers. Bathtubs are available.
The courtyard, painted in a sunny yellow wash and furnished with bistro tables, reminded us of easy, breezy days in the South of France. Everything else is pretty cute and tight, from the small winding stairwell to the (typically) tiny elevator.
A buffet breakfast is available for €12, although the neighborhood has no shortage of small cafes and patisseries.

About the Hotel Eiffel Rive Gauche neighborhood
Many of the surrounding streets offer up storybook views of the Eiffel Tower, still the tallest building in Paris. Another striking monument is the 18-carat-gold dome of the Invalides, that glimmers along the Seine's left bank, just east of the Eiffel Tower. Notable museums include the Musée d'Orsay, the Musée Rodin and the Musée du Quai Branly.
